Photos of George Mander’s Roses

George Mander of Cocquitlam, B.C. is one of Canada’s most successful rose hybridizers.  Since he started hybridizing in 1969, George has produced many widely acclaimed varieties, including ‘Canadian White Star’ and ‘Glowing Amber’.

Now you can see excellent photos of his roses, including newly released and about-to-be released varieties on the Help Me Find website.  The easiest way to get there is to:

Go to George’s website  http://www3.telus.net/georgemander

Click on *Updated*Rose Gallery

And there you'll find a direct link to his roses in alphabetical order, and also a direct link to his thumbnail gallery on HelpMeFind, with over 100 images

These photos were all taken and uploaded by George himself.  Congratulations George on a great job.  And congratulations also on the Canadian stamp featuring ‘Canadian White Star’ being chosen in Paris as the “Most Beautiful Stamp” in the Americas and the “Third Best” stamp in the world.  Add to that the fact that ‘Glowing Amber’ was ranked #5 on the latest Top List of Minis in the U.S. and it is evident that George is having a great year and getting much, well-deserved recognition.

Tour of Rose Gardens

Western Europe

Would you like to visit some of the greatest rose gardens of EuropePerhaps Bagatelle, Roseraie de l’Hay and Malmaison in France, Le Roeulx in Belgium and Westbroekpark in the Netherlands?

The CRS could possibly organize a tour to include these or other gardens of northern Europe, for 2005.  I expect this would cost somewhere in the range of $3,000 per person, plus airfare.  But first, we need to find out how many CRS members would be interested.  If you are, please let me know by September 30, 2004.

The CommPoster on the Internet continued…..

The CommPoster is now available on the CRS website www.canadianrosesociety.org in both pdf and html versions.  The html version allows you to browse quickly and easily from article to article.  The pdf version loads the whole edition of the CommPoster into a separate window.  This takes longer to access but gives you the ability to easily print any or all of its pages.  Take your choice, depending on what you want to do

2004 CRS National Rose Show

The big winners at the 2004 CRS National Rose Show were Claire Finch, Rachel Flood and Anne and Paul Graber.  A splendid effort by them and by Ruth Somerville, Chairman of the Show and winner of many of the host society (Greater Toronto Rose and Garden Society) awards.

A full report on the 2004 National Rose Show will appear in the 2004 Annual.
