Cuthbert Grant, introduced in 1967, is an upright-growing shrub with large, dark red, velvety flowers. This plant received an Award of Merit in 1970 from the Western Canadian Society for Horticulture and was also chosen as Manitoba's Centennial Rose in the same year.

The flowers have a strong fragrance and are semi-double, crimson red, and 10 cm in diameter. Plants produce flowers in June and September and grow 0.8 to 1.0 m high. Cuthbert Grant has excellent resistance to powdery mildew and blackspot and survives well in zone 3. This cultivar is propagated by softwood stem cuttings.

The seed parent of Cuthbert Grant was developed from Crimson Glory and a hybrid of Donald Prior and R. arkansana. The pollen parent was Assiniboine.

Le Cuthbert Grant, homologué en 1967, est un arbuste à port dressé arborant de grosses fleurs veloutées de couleur rouge foncé. Ce cultivar s'est vu décerner un prix d'excellence en 1970 par la Western Canadian Society of Horticulture et a été proclamé, la même année, rose du centenaire du Manitoba.

La fleur d'un rouge cramoisi a un parfum très prononcé. Elle est semi-double et atteint un diamètre de 10 cm. Ce cultivar peut atteindre une hauteur de 0,8 à 1,0 m et fleurit en juin et en septembre. Il résiste très bien au blanc et à la tache noire et survit bien dans la zone 3. La multiplication par boutures de rameaux tendres se fait facilement.

Le Cuthbert Grant est le résultat d'un croisement entre le parent femelle du Crimson Glory et un hybride du Donald Prior et du R. arkansana. Le parent mâle vient de l'Assiniboine.
