Hope for Humanity rose was introduced in 1995 and named in honour of the 100th anniversary of the Canadian Red Cross Society. The Society has exclusive rights to the rose until 1998, after which it will become available for the general trade.
Hope for Humanity is a low-growing ever blooming rose. Plants have an open habit and average 0.5 m in height and 0.6 m in width. Cane strength is good. The double blood red flowers are produced over a 10 - 14 week period, starting in late-June from over-wintered buds and continuing on the current season's growth.
Flower buds are pointed and a deep wine red colour. The number of flowers per inflorescence varies from 2 to 15, with most having 4 to 5. Flowers are double, cup shaped and average 8.0 cm in diameter. There are small white spots at the base of the inner side of the petal, and a white and yellow spot at the base of the outer side of the petal. Flowers are slightly fragrant.Disease resistance is good for powdery mildew and rust, and fair to good for blackspot. Plants have consistently survived in zone 3a with no additional protection. This cultivar is readily propagated from softwood cuttings.
Hope for Humanity is a complex hybrid, involving Prairie Princess, Morden Amorette, Morden Cardinette, R. rugosa and R. arkansana.

Hope for Humanity a été introduit en 1995 et a été nommé en l'honneur du 100è anniversaire de la Société canadienne de la Croix Rouge. Cette société aura les droits exclusifs de ce plant jusqu'en 1998 et il sera disponible par la suite.
Ce rosier est un arbuste de croissance lente, au port ouvert, pouvant atteindre 0,5 m de hauteur et 0,6 m de largeur. Les tiges ont une bonne croissance.
Les bourgeons floraux pointus rouge vin s'ouvrent sur des fleurs doubles rouges légèrement parfumées et qui fleurissent sur une période de 10 à 14 semaines. Elles apparaissent à la fin du mois de juin sur le vieux bois et se poursuivent sur le bois de l'année. Elles sont rassemblées en groupe de 2 à 15 fleurs, dont la moyenne est de 4 à 5. Elles ont un diamètre de 8 cm. De petites taches blanches sont observées sur la face interne des pétales et des taches jaunes et blanches sur la base externe. La résistance est bonne au mildiou et à la rouille et ce rosier est tolérant à la tache noire. Les plants survivent en zone 3a sans protection hivernale. Ce cultivar se propage bien par boutures herbacées.
Hope for Humanity est un hybride complexe provenant de Prairie Princess, Morden Amorette, Morden Cardinette, Rosa rugosa et Rosa arkansana.
